The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority expansion of Ronald Reagan National Airport includes two, new, approximately 50,000 square foot, screening and check-in areas to allow free travel between terminals. North Arrow has been contracted to develop and lead the International Building Code required special inspection for the smoke control system.

The main substation at DC Water’s Blue Plains facility serves a crucial role in providing power to the campus. North Arrow was tasked with replacing and upgrading the HVAC system serving this critical piece of infrastructure.

• Construction activities were performed, and temporary cooling was provided, such that continued operation of the substation was not interrupted.

The Pentagon 9/11 Memorial was built to honor the victims of the September, 11th, 2001 Terrorist Attacks. Spread out over just under 2 acres, the 184 lighted benches represent the 184 people who lost their lives in the attack. North Arrow was tasked with providing design services to replace all of the lighting throughout the entire memorial.

The LBJ Federal Building is 10-stories tall
inclusive of 2 below grade floors and the penthouse. The
renovation covered approximately 25,000 square feet of
existing building space. The program for the project called
for the creation of a rare books archival space, open office
space, and conference/training room.

The ED Space Modernization Program will enable the agency to meet current space guidelines (150-180 usable square feet/person) and align with government initiatives to reduce its footprint. This project is the next phase of North Arrow’s example project 2. Phase two renovates approximately 37,900 usable square feet of the east side of LBJ's second floor, which currently houses the Office of Management.

North Arrow provided AE Title I and II services for the correction of ventilation at the DPW Fleet Maintenance Shop including permit application. The mechanical design improved air-conditioning and ventilation systems utilizing the existing building system to the extent feasible and within the existing building confines. The facility is divided in to multiple work areas – Heavy Repair Bays, Light Repair Bays, Sweeper Shop, Packer Shop, Welding Shop, Upper Level and Lower Level Part Shops each with special requirements for industrial ventilation.

This project is intended to create a simulator
environment to support the F-35 pilot programs. It included
renovation of an approximately 16,000 sf in an existing 102,865 sf
multistory building to accommodate equipment installation in support
of simulator programs for the Advanced Systems Integration
Facility at Naval Air Station Patuxent River for Naval Air
Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD.)

The U.S. Postal Service Headquarters is a 750,000 square foot office building with 14 floors and 3 garage levels. North Arrow provided power system and protective relaying coordination improvements to mitigate power quality problems at the 4.16kV chiller plant. The antiquated fire alarm system was also analyzed for current code compliance and for best approaches for system replacement.

Provided training to operations and maintenance staff and fire department personnel in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) associated regulatory & code requirements for a variety of standards.

Provided the knowledge and expertise to personnel for them to be able to conduct inspections with the ability to site codes and references to better protect or staff, visitors, and users as well as prepare for required examinations.

Attendees received CEUs through an accredited and authorized provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Through North Arrow, Inc’s Engineering & Logistics contract with The Government of the District of Columbia (District), Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP), North Arrow was competitively hired on behalf of the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) to replace DOEE’s aging shelter at the District’s National Core (NCore) ambient air quality monitoring field station. The task leverage all three divisions of North Arrow – Design, Build, and Manage on a compressed timeline to the client’s fiscal yearend funding constraints.
